Executive Summary

What I built in this project

The goal was to learn Local SEO practically and turn every step into portfolio-ready evidence.

Demonstration Project

I used the fictional practice brand BD Lawyer to create an implementation-ready Local SEO strategy for a Dhaka-based law firm. The work included live Google SERP research, real competitor analysis, keyword validation, NAP consistency checks, local citation research, a policy-aware Google Business Profile workflow, service-page mapping and a 30/60/90-day action plan.

110estimated Bangladesh monthly searches for “lawyer in dhaka”
480estimated monthly searches for “divorce lawyer in dhaka”
4.7 / 49sampled Advocacy Legal rating / review count
5.0 / 85sampled Kazi Law Chamber rating / review count
Core outcomeI finished the project with a clear Local SEO blueprint that could be applied to a real eligible law firm after verifying real business information, services, office location and credentials.
Method

Practical workflow used

1

Baseline SERP

Checked “lawyer in dhaka” and “best lawyer in dhaka” to identify local-pack competitors and search intent.

2

Keyword validation

Collected autocomplete and related searches, then checked priority keyword volume and CPC individually.

3

Competitor audit

Compared GBP details, websites, reviews, NAP consistency, services, visual proof and external listings.

4

Implementation plan

Prepared GBP fields, service-page mapping, LocalBusiness/LegalService schema plan and a 30/60/90-day roadmap.

SERP Baseline

Local intent was visible immediately

Both target searches returned a local business pack, confirming that Google treats these queries as location-sensitive, commercial legal-service searches.

ObservationAdvocacy Legal appeared across both sampled queries, making it a priority competitor for deeper GBP and NAP analysis. Kazi Law Chamber also appeared strongly for the “best lawyer” search.
Keyword Research

From Google suggestions to validated page targets

Google autocomplete and related searches produced service-led keywords such as divorce, criminal, land, property, civil and immigration lawyer terms. I then validated a priority set individually because the free volume checker did not support the bulk workflow I first planned.

KeywordBD monthly estimateGlobalCPCDecision
lawyer in dhaka110150$0.11Homepage / main local page
best lawyer in dhaka3060$0.14Secondary on same page
criminal lawyer in dhaka2020$0.15Dedicated service page
divorce lawyer in dhaka480560$0.17Highest-priority service page
property lawyer in dhakaN/A / 0 shown0N/AValidate with SERP, not volume alone
Important research lessonI did not discard “property lawyer in dhaka” only because the tool returned no measurable volume. A later SERP check for “land lawyer in dhaka” showed local-pack and organic property/land-law overlap, so I mapped them to one Land & Property service page.
Competitor Audit

Two real Dhaka competitors, two different consistency profiles

Advocacy Legal

Sampled GBP: 4.7 rating, 49 reviews.

The profile was relatively complete, with a category, services, contact information, office imagery and website access.

Audit issue: GBP showed Level 4, while the website contact section showed 3rd Floor. GBP also showed 24-hour availability while the website listed Sat–Thu 11:00 AM–8:00 PM and Friday on request.

Kazi Law Chamber

Sampled GBP: 5.0 rating, 85 reviews.

The main corporate office address and primary phone number were consistent between Google and the website, with only normal formatting differences.

The website also showed multiple office/chamber locations, which would require separate eligibility verification before any multi-location GBP strategy.

Strongest audit findingAdvocacy Legal had an observable business-information inconsistency across GBP, website and external citations. I would never “fix” that by guessing; the correct workflow is owner verification → GBP update → website update → citation cleanup.
NAP & Citations

Brand mentions were checked for consistency, not just quantity

I searched exact business names and phone numbers to see how competitor details appeared across Google-indexed sources. This surfaced useful directory and social citations as well as inconsistencies.

Citation vs backlinkA business mention with Name / Address / Phone can be a citation even if there is no clickable website link. I did not label a directory as a “backlink” unless an outbound link was actually verified.
Google Business Profile

Policy-aware GBP optimization blueprint

I created a practice workflow for the fictional brand BD Lawyer to learn the setup sequence: business name, business type, primary category, address, contact details and description. I intentionally stopped before publishing/verification because the project used demonstration data.

GBP plan preparedPrimary category: Law firm. Core services: Divorce & Family Law, Criminal Law, Civil Law, Land & Property Law, Immigration Legal Support, Corporate Legal Services, Legal Consultation and documentation/case-assessment support.

Transparency

Practice project — not a fabricated client-results story

This case study documents real research, real competitor observations and real screenshots, but BD Lawyer was a fictional training brand. I did not create fake reviews, verify a fake business, invent ranking improvements or claim client revenue. A real client implementation would begin only after verifying eligibility, NAP, business hours, services, office location and professional credentials.
